The rectangular shape of Samui and its coastal ring road, make travel around the Island to view beach resorts, easy. In contrast, the Islands interior of high rugged hills clothed in dense tropical vegetation encourages excursions inland, to waterfalls and other scenic spots. If you are interested in exploring this beautiful Island, there are an extraordinary variety of things to do and see, besides lazing of the beach.

Short distance travel around the beach resorts, bars and restaurants is by ‘Song Thaew’, basically pickup trucks with overhead cover and bench seats. These are very cheap and ply the major routes, picking up and dropping off on request. For longer trips or if you prefer you own transport, Cars, Jeeps and motorbikes can be chartered or hired in the main tourist centres, but be careful since the local standard of driving is poor.
